Your internet rummaging has led you to stumble across the blog for Thimbles and Thumbs.
This is the blog linked to the regular grown up craft night we host in Knaphill, Woking, Surrey.
We will also let you know when and where the local Craft market is held, so you can pop along to these markets and see some lovely crafts made by local people.
Come along for a creative, sociable and fun afternoon with lots of quirky and individual stalls all made by local crafters. There is a lovely pop up cafe with fresh coffee, a good range of teas and home made cakes and snacks. Each fair has a craft activity to take part in for the children and we often have demonstrations which was floristry at the last fair. Most items for sale are £10 or less so very affordable and far more interesting than things for sale in shops!
We are always on the look out for new stall holders and demonstrators so do get in touch if you are interested.
Our craft night give like minded individuals the opportunity to take time out of their hectic lives and indulge in an evening of crafty creativity.
We hope to :
* Keep you posted on forth coming events.
* Give a sneaky peak to some of the plans we are hatching for future craft nights.
* Share templates and tutorials from each craft night.
* Post pictures of the fabulous crafty items made by the clever folk who attend our craft nights.
We are also introducing Children's Craft Workshops which will run in the school holidays. These will give children a chance to try new crafts and skills in a fun environment, then take their creations home.
We have written a little bit about each other :
Sam is a primary school teacher and a mum to two boys. Sam has always loved sewing and being creative and these skills are incorporated into her lessons with the children.
Whilst celebrating a friend’s birthday on a machine embroidery workshop, her imagination was fueled and Sam was inspired for new projects. Sam is an avid bargain hunter and can always be found at charity shops and jumble sales, finding pieces of material, balls of wool to be used in a new project. She also seems to be collecting sewing machines, how many can a girl have!
Sam started off offering children’s craft activities at the West End Craft Markets and realised that adults are just like children never happier, trying out new crafts, learning new skills. Sam then thought about offering craft nights for big girls and boys, where they can make and be proud of their creations.
Sam has bags of energy and works all hours, who emails at 2 in the morning, with new idea, leaflets, and posters. This enthusiasm is contagious and you can’t help but get excited for the next craft idea.
My petite friend Dawn is never one to sit back on her laurels and is always coming up with wonderful ways to spread her love of crafting around Surrey. When not running after her three boys (two sons and a husband), she has, alongside our talented domestic goddess -Steph, developed the very successful West End Craft Markets. It was at these events we realised there are lots talented creative people about who need an outlet for their pent up craftiness. So the tiny button of an idea for our Craft Nights was sewn. Dawn is the organisational brains of the operation who takes a couple of my mad ramblings and a crumpled picture and turns them into a fabulous craft event. Despite her hectic work schedule Dawn somehow also manages to create lots of lovely knitted items for her stall at the Craft Market.
We hope you will pop by regularly and have a peep at our latest craft inspired shenanigans and post a comment.
